Orchard Pipeworks
Orchard Pipeworks is a pioneering initiative in Singapore, founded by local music producer
Jerry Galeries. This project focuses on preserving the longevity of pipe organs in Singapore, which are often at the mercy of the harsh tropical climate.
Origin
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Jerry apprenticed under master organbuilder Robert R. Navaratnam, dedicating his time to servicing and maintaining organs across Singapore and Malaysia. Inspired by this experience, he began salvaging decommissioned organ parts, breathing new life into them by incorporating them into new instruments, ensuring the continued legacy of the pipe organ in modern music.

A Second Life
01
Organ In The East
A small pipe organ was built by Jerry himself using decommissioned parts, some of which date back to the 1920s. This unique instrument features a vintage wind reservoir and an offset chest that once belonged to the esteemed organ of the Cathedral of Good Shepherd.
03
W.I.P.
The organ is MIDI-capable, enabling it to be played remotely or even autonomously. Currently, the instrument is temporarily erected in Jerry's private studio, where he continues to refine its capabilities.

Echo Of A Memory
Combining these historical components not only preserves the legacy of these artifacts but also highlights their sonic potential, creating a functional piece that honors the rich musical heritage of the past while contributing to the vibrant tapestry of contemporary music in Singapore.

Future Of The Pipe Dream
Looking ahead, Jerry envisions this remarkable instrument being placed in a publicly accessible venue, allowing the community to experience, play, and enjoy its unique sound. He is actively seeking partnerships with establishments or organizations that promote the arts to help give the organ a new home, ensuring its legacy continues to resonate with audiences.
